10 Years of Hands-On STEM Camps
STEMWISE Summer Camps give middle school students a full week to build, create, experiment — and take their project home with them.
Camp Details
Two Camps, Two Ways to Learn
Each camp runs for one full week. Campers can attend one or both.
STEMWISE: Robotics Camp
Using a new robot design each year, campers get to design, build, and program their own custom robot. Each robot introduces new possibilities for creativity, problem solving, and hands on engineering. Throughout the week, campers take on challenges and games that put their robots to the test, from precision driving to creative problem solving.
Along the way they learn to:
- Design and build a robot
- Program and code it
- Test it through hands on challenges
- Troubleshoot and solve problems
- Compete in fun, interactive activities
Campers take their robot home at the end of the week.
STEMWISE: 3D Printing Camp
Campers get hands on experience with 3D printing by assembling and setting up their own printer, then learning how to design and bring their ideas to life. Throughout the week, they explore:
- CAD design
- 3D printer operation
- Printer setup and assembly
- Printer maintenance
- Troubleshooting and problem solving
- How digital designs become physical objects
Campers leave with their own 3D printer and the skills to keep creating long after camp ends.
What Do Campers Need?
Most things are provided — here’s what to bring, what we cover, and what to leave at home.
What to Bring
- Sack lunch each day
- Water bottle
- Their own transportation to and from camp
We Provide
- All materials — campers keep their builds
- All tools
- Computers for programming
- Snacks
Optional Extras
Welcome, but not required:
- Their own laptop, phone, or tablet
- Their own computer mouse, if preferred over a trackpad
Please Don’t Bring
Anything that wouldn’t be allowed on a school campus.
What Campers Actually Do
Every day at camp is active, hands-on, and project-based.
Build
Assemble real hardware, from robots to printers.
Code
Program their builds to move, respond, and perform.
Design
Use CAD and creative problem-solving to shape their project.
Test
Try it, break it, fix it, and try again.
Compete
Put their build to the test in friendly challenges.
Collaborate
Work alongside other campers to solve problems together.

Kevin Welch
Kevin Welch is the founder of STEMWISE and a STEM educator with over a decade of classroom experience teaching STEM, robotics, and science. He is passionate about creating hands on learning experiences that encourage students to build, experiment, solve problems, and discover the possibilities of STEM. Through STEMWISE, Kevin brings that passion to students by making STEM education engaging, practical, and fun.

Zach Martin
Zach Martin has more than 20 years of experience teaching with Rutherford County Schools. After 16 years teaching 8th-grade science at Rockvale Middle School, he moved to Blackman Middle School, where he founded the school’s first STEM program. He’s passionate about helping students discover their creativity and potential through hands-on coding and robotics.
